Mary, Sister of Martha

Dana-Mae Abram, 38, was born and raised in Topeka, KS but currently resides in Kansas City, MO. She is a wife to Richard and mother of two girls and two boys.

She received her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Missouri Southern State University and a Master’s Degree in Leadership and Administration from American College of Education. To be noted, while attending Missouri Southern, Dana-Mae also was a member of the Women’s’ Basketball team where she lead her team in the areas of scoring, blocks, and free-throw percentage across two seasons.

Dana-Mae is a passionate educator and has been a teacher in the Joplin School District, Hickman Mills C-1 School District and in the Kansas City Public School District (KCPS) where she taught multiple elementary grade levels. She is currently the principal of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary in KCPS, where her school has made many improvements in the areas of attendance, academics and discipline under her leadership.

When she is not leading her school, she is a singer in her own rite in multiple organizations in the greater Kansas City area as well as performing solo events. At St. James United Methodist Church, she plays an energetic and active role on the Praise Team on Sunday mornings. She has also served there in ministry as Director of the Mustard Seeds Children’s Choir as well as Director of the 21st Century Youth Choir. She has had the amazing opportunity to sing with and behind artists like Lyle Lovett, Jason Nelson, Myron Butler, Sandra Crouch, Margaret Bell, Marvin Winans, and BeBe Winans. Dana is also a member of Kansas City’s own, Isaac Cates & Ordained where she sings at a variety of events around the city as well as around the country.
