Michael Andrews

John

Michael’s singing journey began in the Children’s Choir at the age of 10-18 at Morning Star Baptist Church of Kansas City, Missouri. At the age of 15, the minister of music felt that his voice was strong enough to join the adult sanctuary choir where he is currently a member. In high school, Michael participated in concert choir as well as the district and Missouri state singing competitions. From high school Michael has had the opportunity to sing in multiple groups and choirs, but the group he holds dear to his heart is recording artist Isaac Cates & Ordained. Michael began his journey with Ordained in 2004 where he has been blessed to work with Gospel music icons like Marvin Winans, Bebe Winans, Cece Winans, Kim Burrell, Sandra Crouch, Jonathan McReynolds, Donald Lawrence, Tamela Mann, and Melonie Daniels just to name a few. He has also worked with secular artists like Oleta Adams, Tech N9ne, and Wiz Kaliko among others. Just within the last year, Michael had the honor of working with Grammy award-winning choral director Craig Johnson & Conspirare in an awe-inspiring Christmas concert in Austin, Texas.  Michael is also currently one of the lead singers for Funk Syndicate of Kansas City and has been for almost a decade.

Along with his singing history, Michael began a theatrical career in 2009 casting the role of Joseph Asagi in MTS Production Company’s “A Raisin in the Sun” at the Union Station. With the same company in March 2010, he performed his first lead role as Judas Iscariot in “Jesus Christ Superstar.”  Enjoying the theater world, Michael auditioned for Padget Productions and was cast for the roles of Audrey II(the voice) and the drunkard in “Little Shop of Horrors” and the role of Tom Collins in the hit show “RENT.” The shoreign of theatrical performances ended in the fall of 2010 when Michael decided to go back to school full time while working a full-time job to study and gain his massage therapy certification which he loves.
