Dorthia began her dance journey at the age of 8, where she danced 4yrs at Carol Byrds Dance studio in Kansas City, Ks. At the age of 14, she was one of 2 youngest members of the One Accord Dance Ministry at Eighth Street Baptist Church, and has been apart of that ministry for 26 years. During her time in One Accord, she served as a dance coach, choreographer. She continued her dream with dancing doing various performances locally.
Dorthia served as a team member of E-Unit Hip Hop dance team at Emporia State University under the direction of Me’Kel Watson. Later she became the captain and coach of the team until graduation.
In 2010 Dorthia became a student of Reginald R. Jones IV and Hip Hop instructor at Rosie’s Dance Academy, until 2013. She now serves as an Alumni Dancer with Rosie’s Dance Academy.
Despite the changes that have come along with the pandemic, Dorthia was appointed the Directress of One Accord Dance Ministry of Eighth Street Baptist Church in July of 2021. She continues to be inspired by her favorite quote, “D.R.E.A.M., Dance Rules Everything Around Me” – Anonymous
